Since
training at Auckland's influential Theatre Corporate,
New Zealand actor Jennifer Ward-Lealand has worked
extensively in theatre, film and television for
over 25 years. She has excelled in both dramatic
and comedic roles, as well as numerous roles in
musical theatre and cabaret.
In
recent years Jennifer has also become a director
of theatre, especially musicals, and has devised
many cabarets. As
an accomplished singer, she presents her own shows,
Falling in Love Again and The
Look of Love, Evocative/Provocative , at
festivals and venues in New Zealand and Australia. She
is also in demand as a tutor of musical theatre.
Jennifer
is President of New Zealand Actors Equity
and serves as a trust board member of Silo
Theatre and an honorary board member of Women
in Film &
Television-Auckland. In
the 2007 New Years Honours List, she was named
an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit "for
services to the theatre and the community."

THE LOOK OF LOVE, EVOCATIVE/PROVOCATIVE AT DOWNSTAGE THEATRE
|
Jennifer will present a season of her cabaret, The Look of Love, Evocative/Provocative, at Downstage Theatre in Wellington, 8-18 December 2008. She will be accompanied by Grant Winterburn on piano and Aaron Coddel on double bass.
"With a powerhouse voice and goddess-like proportions, Jennifer Ward-Lealand shimmied on stage in true professional cabaret style to another sold-out festival audience. . . . [her] mouth became a dynamic vessel for note-perfect sound as it broke into song.

JENNIFER DIRECTS TOP GIRLS FOR UNITEC
Jennifer directed Caryl Churchill's Top Girls for Unitec Graduation Showcase 08: Acting. It is being presented at Unitec Theatre, 15-29 November at 7 p.m. (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday only); there will also be a matinee on Saturday 29 November at 2 p.m. Tickets from iTicket.
JENNIFER TO TEACH DIRECTING WORKSHOP
Jennifer will teach the workshop, Directing Actors - Enabling Directors to Get More Out of a Performance by Developing Acting Craft, for Howick Little Theatre on 22-23 November 2008, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. See Howick Little Theatre's website for more information.
